## **Arya Life**

*(Specially published on 7 April – World Health Day)*

### **Time to Wake Up and the First Duty**

**“Before the sunrise and even before dawn, one should repeatedly remember and call upon the Supreme Being—the unborn, the first to exist. Such a person attains true self-rule (inner mastery), beyond which nothing greater exists.”**

— *Atharvaveda 10.7.31*

One should rise before sunrise and remember God, who is eternal and beyond all.

---

### **The Scene of Dawn (Uṣā)**

If you have risen early, observe the beauty of dawn through the Vedic vision. The Vedas describe such scenes not merely as natural sights, but as expressions of divine glory and sources of benefit to human life.

**“The best light among all lights has appeared. The colorful glow spreads across the sky. Just as dawn makes way for the sun, the night has given place to the dawn.”**

— *Ṛgveda 1.113.1*

From this, we learn that an Arya should live in a place where such uplifting natural scenes can be seen. Modern city life, where such views are absent, goes against this ideal. Observing nature increases joy, improves health, develops a cheerful nature, and strengthens inner spirit.

---

**“The vast chariot of dawn is harnessed; immortal rays (like divine beings) ride upon it. Rising from the dark sky, dawn brings healing to humanity.”**

— *Ṛgveda 1.123.1*

This teaches that those who wake early remain healthy, while darkness and closed environments lead to illness. The remedy is to bring in light and openness.

---

**“Dawn comes to every home daily, shining and bringing gifts, distributing her treasures generously.”**

— *Ṛgveda 1.123.4*

An ideal life is one where a person remains cheerful, radiant, and always ready to do good for others, while growing and sharing prosperity.

---

**“O Dawn, daughter of the heavens, arise for us with beauty, brilliance, glory, and prosperity.”**

— *Ṛgveda 1.48.1*

Such thoughts inspire a person to become industrious, virtuous, and successful.

---

**“Dawn dispels darkness and encourages those who rise early and prepare for action. Such people move ahead in life, just as ambitious sailors cross the ocean in search of wealth and fame.”**

— *Ṛgveda 1.48.3*

Those who wake early and act with enthusiasm progress in life, while those who sleep through this valuable time fall behind.

---

Thus, one should welcome each new day by observing divine creation and making noble resolutions.

---

### **Health, Strength, and Longevity**

It is the duty of every Arya to take proper care of the body and senses, so as to remain healthy, strong, and long-lived.

**“May my speech be strong, my breath vital, my eyes clear, and my ears attentive. May my limbs be powerful, my body disease-free, and my soul strong and radiant.”**

— *Atharvaveda 19.60*

---

**“May strength fill my body, may I enjoy a full lifespan, and may my being remain pure and complete.”**

— *Atharvaveda 19.61*

---

### **Prayers for Health, Strength, and Longevity**

**“O Agni! Protect my body, grant me long life, and bless me with brilliance. Remove all weaknesses from my body.”**

— *Yajurveda 3.17*

---

**“You are energy—instill energy in me. You are strength—grant me strength. You are power—fill me with power. You are endurance—give me endurance.”**

— *Yajurveda 19.9*

---

Thus, one should maintain cleanliness, proper habits, and a balanced diet to enhance health, strength, and lifespan.

---

### **Importance of Exercise**

**“Exercise brings lightness to the body, increases efficiency, strengthens limbs, removes defects, and improves digestion.”**

**“A person with a strong body through exercise remains free from disease and digests even difficult food easily.”**

**“Such a person does not suffer from weakness, and old age does not quickly overpower him.”**

Exercise includes all forms of physical activity—not just formal workouts, but also daily household work. Therefore, one should never feel ashamed of doing physical labor.

---

### **Intellectual Strength**

**“O Agni! Grant me that intelligence which the wise and noble revere. Make me intelligent and thoughtful.”**

— *Yajurveda 32.14*

---

### **Strength of Character**

**“O Agni! Keep me away from bad conduct and guide me toward good conduct, so that I may live a noble and pure life.”**

— *Yajurveda 4.28*

---

In this way, Arya life teaches a balanced path of early rising, connection with nature, physical health, mental strength, and moral character.
