**The Beneficial Teachings of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati**

1. Human beings should dedicate their entire lives—body, vital energies (*prāṇa*), inner faculties (*antaḥkaraṇa*), the ten senses, and the best of their resources—to *yajña* (selfless, righteous action). By doing so, one becomes free from sin, performs worthy deeds, attains God through yoga, and enjoys happiness in this life as well as in the next.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 22.33)

2. Just as the sun shines in every universe, so does the Supreme God illuminate the entire cosmos. Those who, through the practice of yoga, unite that indwelling Supreme Being with their own soul attain illumination from all sides.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 23.5)

3. Just as God teaches all living beings that He pervades the entire world of cause and effect, so too must it be understood that without Him not even a single atom exists unpervaded. Where the world does not exist, He still remains infinitely complete in His own nature. The vast universe that people perceive is, in comparison to Him, not even equal to an atom. How can learned scholars convey this truth to all?

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 23.50)

4. All human beings, through the knowledge of God and the company of the learned, should attain profound wisdom and practice righteousness in all directions, becoming protectors of all beings at all times.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 25.14)

5. All learned persons should instruct humanity in this manner: we should worship (through yoga) that all-powerful, formless, all-pervading Supreme God alone, knowing Him to be the enhancer of happiness and prosperity. You too should worship Him alone and recognize Him as the source of the upliftment of all.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 25.18)

6. A person who practices yoga near mountains and at the confluence of rivers, and who reflects upon God and cultivates knowledge, becomes endowed with excellent intellect and righteous action—a thoughtful and wise individual.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 26.15)

7. Just as learned people, by accepting and realizing Brahman, attain bliss and auspiciousness and completely eradicate faults, so should seekers approach Brahman-realized scholars. By practicing blissful and auspicious conduct, they should uproot negative tendencies, abandon laziness, and continually strive for the advancement of knowledge.

   — *Maharshi Dayanand* (Yajurveda 27.3)
