Vedic Noble Ideals

## 🚩 Vedic Noble Ideals 🚩

### 🌻 Universal Welfare

**Atharvaveda 7.81.5**

**Meaning:**

O Supreme Lord! Grant long life even to those who bear enmity toward us, and to those whom we consider enemies. May they too prosper, and may we also become prosperous. May all of us be blessed with cows, oxen, horses, children, grandchildren, livestock, homes, wealth, and grain. May there be welfare for all—and welfare for us as well.

### 🌻 Universal Love

The Vedas do not teach hatred; rather, they proclaim:

**Atharvaveda 4.13.1**

**Meaning:**

O learned and virtuous people endowed with divine qualities! Lift up those who have fallen. O wise ones! Repeatedly uplift those who have gone astray. O noble souls! Even those who commit offenses and sins—raise them up again and again. Awaken those engaged in sinful conduct; rekindle the light of their inner self.

**Yajurveda 40.7**

**Meaning:**

When, in the state of Brahma-knowledge, all beings are seen as one’s own Self, then for the knower who perceives unity everywhere, what delusion or sorrow can remain? For one who loves all beings and sees them as equal to oneself, all grief and attachment come to an end.

**Atharvaveda 8.4.15**

**Meaning:**

If I ever become one who causes suffering to others, or torments the life of any person, may I die at once—here and now.

**Atharvaveda 6.18.2**

**Meaning:**

Just as the earth is inert and more lifeless than a corpse, and just as the mind of a dead person is dead, so too the mind of one who harbors jealousy and hatred becomes lifeless. Therefore, one should never hate anyone.

### 🌻 Brahmic Power and Kṣātra Power (Knowledge and Strength)

**Yajurveda 20.25**

**Meaning:**

That nation, world, land, or place where knowledge and strength—Brahmic power and Kṣātra power, spiritual brilliance and protective might—move together in harmony, and where citizens (the “devas”) are filled with sentiments of national progress, I regard that realm as pure and exalted.

---

### 🌻 Character Building

**Atharvaveda 9.5.3**

**Meaning:**

O human being! Completely abandon the evil conduct you have practiced. Then, through pure and noble conduct, advance as a person of wisdom. Crossing many forms of sin and darkness, and through meditation and yogic realization, behold the Unborn Brahman; transcending sorrow and delusion, ascend to the supreme state of blissful liberation.

---

### 🌻 Love for the Divine

**Ṛgveda 8.1.5**

**Meaning:**

O imperishable Supreme Being! For even the greatest price or material gain, I shall never abandon You. O Mighty One, Lord of all wealth! I will not forsake You for a thousand, nor for ten thousand, nor for limitless riches.

---

### 🌻 Walking on the Right Path

**Atharvaveda 13.1.59**

**Meaning:**

O Lord! May we never deviate from the righteous path. May we never fall away from peace-giving noble actions. May enemies such as desire and anger never overpower us.

---

### 🌻 Sweet and Gentle Speech

**Atharvaveda 5.7.4**

**Meaning:**

May we speak words that are exceedingly pleasant and sweet.

**Yajurveda 21.61**

**Meaning:**

O learned teacher and guide! You have been sent to impart beneficial instruction. Become a thoughtful person and deliver noble teachings for the welfare of the virtuous.

---

### 🌻 Divine Outlook

**Ṛgveda 8.18.13**

**Meaning:**

The person who, driven by violent tendencies, seeks to harm us—such a sorrowful individual is destroyed by his own crooked conduct and evil nature. If he perishes by his own actions, why should I harm anyone?

---

**Readers!**

How lofty and exalted these ideals expressed in the above Vedic mantras are! You may read all the literature of the world, yet you will not find thoughts more beautiful and elevating than these.
